My
personal support of pharming depends on whether its researchers and associated
companies are able to safely control the health and ecological risks currently
present. The benefits that pharming has the ability to provide is too
considerably large to simply ignore, and government policy makers along with
companies wishing to get involved in the industry should work towards creating
a sustainable, healthy and safe pharming practice.
The
cost of pharmaceuticals has the potential to be reduced by a significant amount
through the industrialization of biopharming, and its economics benefits should
not be ignored. Many people around the world die each day due to them not
receiving the medicine that they require, mostly due to a lack of access and
the fact that the medicine is unaffordable. Advancing in this field can lead to
incredible change in underdeveloped parts of the world.
The
benefits that successful pharming can bring to human society are considerably
greater than the health and safety risks it may pose. Careful planning and
success in achieving a safe policy to regulate pharming should be pursued to
ensure that this pharming can be made feasible without posing as a threat.
